Established in 1982, El Tamarindo is the Washington, DC area’s longest standing Salvadoran/Mexican restaurant. Our menu is centered around affordably priced authentic Salvadoran and Mexican dishes and many of the sauces and marinades we use are made right here in our own kitchen. For your convenience, we also offer takeout and delivery.

On #NationalPupusaDay, we celebrate El Salvador’s influence in shaping the city’s palate, while coming together with friends, neighbors, and family over a some delicious #ElTamDC pupusas.
Due to limited capacity, we’ve come up with two options to take part in the festivities!

Since this is a timed event we kindly ask to reserve your table early.

2. Purchase our PUPUSA PACK! It includes EVERYTHING you need to make Pupusas from the comfort of your own home! Included is a super fun Pupusa Tutorial Video, to help you create the perfect Pupusa, for you and your family!

The most popular menu item here at El Tamarindo is definitely our homemade pupusas.
We serve up 9 different varieties and we don’t skimp on the curtido and salsa. Our beans and cheese and pork with cheese are the definite fan favorites.

A very comfortable place to enjoy Mexican / Salvadoran specialities. The service is attentive and friendly. The minute you sit down, you already have a bottle of water and tacos with a delicious home made salsa on the table. The food is fresh and really tasty. Excellent dinner experience.
